Summer Coding Camps

While we’re mostly an after-school custom-learning coding shop, we also offer Summer Camps! Our in-person coding camps can be a great way to keep your kids learning computer science through their time away from school. theCoderSchool’s camps target kids’ interests, from video game development to robotics to minecraft to roblox to javascript with html/css and even mobile game development.

How We Teach at Our Camps

Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

How Our Camps Are Run

Each day camp runs for a full week, usually starting mid-morning and finishing early afternoon, although some camps are offered as a half-day. While we’ll do lots of on-computer learning, we’ll also take plenty of breaks and take a walk outside or other indoor activities. At the end of the week, students give demos to show off their hard work from the week and their newfound critical thinking skills.

Get ready for a summer packed with creativity, coding, and hands-on fun! Our camps are perfect for complete beginners and experienced coders alike—all skill levels are welcome. Camps run Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Throughout the day, students enjoy three structured breaks where they unplug from screens and take part in team-building activities like Jenga, Four Square (weather permitting), chess, Kahoot, and more. They’ll also have a full hour-long lunch break to eat, relax, get fresh air, or cool off inside while watching clips from a kid-friendly movie. Students are required to bring in snacks and lunches from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays we have a pizza party. Fridays are always a highlight—students celebrate the end of the week with a pizza party, and families are invited at 2:30 PM for presentations to see what their child created during camp. Please read the full description. Most camps provide all equipment, however certain coding platforms require students to bring in their own laptop. If you cannot provide a laptop, please contact us. Our camps sell out every year. If a camp is full and you’d like to join the waitlist, email vaishali@thecoderschool.com and we’ll do our best to accommodate, staffing permitting. Minecraft! (Ages 7+)

Students will spend the day building and coding mBot robots, exploring Minecraft Education Edition with block-coding to build custom worlds and solve creative challenges, and designing their own creations with LEGO. A full day of hands-on creativity and problem-solving while school is closed for Election Day! This camp is designed for ages 7+. Perfect for beginners with little to no experience, as well as students with prior knowledge. All equipment is provided on-site.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. What is a coding camp?

Coding summer camps are week-long coding courses in a variety of topics, from robotics to artificial intelligence to video game design and development. We also teach an Intro to Python Programming camp, one of the fastest growing programming languages in the world!

We know how different kids are from one another, and our camps help reflect that diversity. You'll find camps that focus on javascript and HTML/CSS for web development, use Scratch for game design, game development, and animations, we even have camps that teach algorithms for basic artificial intelligence and data science. We also employ a project-based learning experience.
