Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. Our core program revolves around a mentor relationship with experienced coders, Code Coaches who can guide our students through their amazing - and custom - technical journey. **CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Two of our brand new AI camps in one week! Monday and Tuesday it’s Toy Story: campers bring 2 or 3 favorite toys and turn them into the stars of their own animated movie. Anyone can type a sentence into AI. We teach what real filmmakers know: how to build a story; draw a storyboard; pick the right camera shot and edit it all together with their own voices and sound effects. Wednesday and Friday it’s Super Smash Family: kids build a Smash Bros style fighting game where every fighter is someone in their family. AI turns family photos (totally optional) into the fighters; and the kids write the real code that decides how each one runs; jumps and hits. On Friday parents are invited for the red carpet premiere and the Family Smash Tournament. Windows or Mac laptop required; no tablets. **CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** NO SCREENS ALL WEEK! Inspired by MrBeast’s Beast Games; campers are drafted onto teams and face brand new challenges all day long. They’ll race to wire working alarms and sirens with Snap Circuits; crack secret spy messages; hunt for buried treasure with real metal detectors; master magic tricks to perform for the whole camp; and battle it out in Rubik’s Cube and board game tournaments. Teams even invent their own board game for the other teams to play. Points add up all week; and on the last day one team is crowned Beast Games Champion. No laptop needed! **CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** In our HeroCraft A.I. Scratch Camp kids start with a hand-drawn sketch of their favorite movie or TV hero; campers will use cutting-edge artificial intelligence to refine their artwork. Next; they’ll bring their characters to life in a coding project as interactive sprites. Also during this camp; the kids will get a chance to use our VR headsets to create their own sculptures and artwork in virtual reality that they can then export and print on our 3D printer! Finally in Our Robots & Roblox camp we teach kids about robotics and coding using the awesome mBot coding robot. Kids will assemble their own robot kit and we’ll code them using Scratch to create some entry level artificial intelligence and we’ll have some robot competitions they’ll love. Kids will use the power of Roblox Studio to design their very own Minecraft-style game; blending the best of both worlds with Roblox’s development tools and Minecraft’s iconic blocky fun. They’ll learn everything from Minecraft-style terrain and block systems to player mechanics and world generation; creating their own take on what makes Minecraft so addictive. When their game’s ready; they’ll put on Meta Quest VR headsets to explore their custom-built world in virtual reality. It’s a totally unique experience you won’t find anywhere but The Coder School! In the Minecraft 3D Print Camp we’ll teach the kids to build some complex projects together in Minecraft and then we’ll save them in a format that can be printed in a smaller form using a 3D printer. **CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Teens from all four of our Atlanta schools team up online for our first AI Shark Tank League camp! On day one campers find a real problem that a real person has; like a parent’s small business; a teacher or a sports team; and dream up a product or service to fix it. Then they build it with code and AI; test it on real users and fix what breaks; just like a real startup. On the last day every camper pitches live to a panel of Sharks (our coaches and their fellow campers); who ask the tough questions and decide who wins. You know how the toys in Toy Story come alive the second everyone leaves the room? This week your kid’s toys do the same thing; and your child is the director! Two camps in one week! Pokémon started on the Game Boy; so we put them together. For the first two days kids use Scratch to build their own turn-based Pokémon battle with custom sprites; health bars and evolving characters. For the last two days they code a classic retro game with drag and drop blocks (just like Scratch) in Microsoft MakeCode Arcade; then load it onto a real handheld game console that looks and plays like a Game Boy; with a D-pad; A and B buttons and a full color screen. We’ll be using a cool drag n’ drop language called Scratch to create some awesome new and classic games! Aimed at our newbie and novice coders with little or no experience creating games in Scratch so we can go at their pace! Roblox and Super Smash Bros. go together like peanut butter and jelly! Ok maybe not. LOL. But we’re going to MAKE THEM go together in our Roblox vs. Super Smash Bros. camp. We will use the powerful video game engine for Roblox called Roblox Studio to create a Super Smash Bros.-style video game! Super Smash Bros. and Roblox are probably the top 2 games kids play on breaks at our school so this is a way to merge the two into a fun coding experience we guarantee they’ll love! What if your kid built their own Super Smash Bros... and every fighter was someone in your family? In Super Smash Family; campers turn family photos into game characters with AI; then write the real code that makes the game work: how each fighter runs and jumps; how hard they hit; how far they fly; and what happens when little brother shows up as the villain. They’ll give Mom; Dad and the dog their own special moves; record their own sound effects; and program the brain of a computer-controlled final boss (hi; Dad). Anyone can ask AI to make a game. We teach kids to understand every line; test it; fix it and explain it. And yes; we play the real Super Smash Bros. at breaks!
