Our camps generally have a low-ratio of students per coach. Ask your location for specifics as it can vary. Camp instructors are Code Coaches® who have successfully gone through our onboarding process and are coders that know how to teach coding skills to kids. Each camp has recommendations around age and skill level, but all are open to discussion based on your child’s experience with coding.
Welcome to theCoderSchool, a place that teaches coding camps and a whole lot more during the school year. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, theCoderSchool believes every kid is unique, and we treat them that way. Our core program revolves around a mentor relationship with experienced coders, Code Coaches who can guide our students through their amazing - and custom - technical journey. **CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Two of our brand new AI camps in one week! Monday and Tuesday it’s Toy Story: campers bring 2 or 3 favorite toys and turn them into the stars of their own animated movie. Anyone can type a sentence into AI. We teach what real filmmakers know: how to build a story; draw a storyboard; pick the right camera shot and edit it all together with their own voices and sound effects. Wednesday and Friday it’s Super Smash Family: kids build a Smash Bros style fighting game where every fighter is someone in their family. AI turns family photos (totally optional) into the fighters; and the kids write the real code that decides how each one runs; jumps and hits. On Friday parents are invited for the red carpet premiere and the Family Smash Tournament. Windows or Mac laptop required; no tablets. This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ages 8-12 | Ages 8-12

**CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** NO SCREENS ALL WEEK! Mark Rober is the former NASA engineer whose giant YouTube builds kids can’t stop watching. If you’ve never heard of him; just ask your kids! In this camp; teams engineer glow-in-the-dark marble runs; a 3-foot roller coaster; a working gumball machine; catapults and bridges; then test every one until it breaks. Then they fix it and make it better; exactly how real engineers work. Every day is a new build; and we finish by connecting every team’s creations into one giant chain reaction machine. No laptop needed! This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ages 7-12 | Ages 7-12

**CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** In our HeroCraft A.I. Scratch Camp kids start with a hand-drawn sketch of their favorite movie or TV hero; campers will use cutting-edge artificial intelligence to refine their artwork. Next; they’ll bring their characters to life in a coding project as interactive sprites. Also during this camp; the kids will get a chance to use our VR headsets to create their own sculptures and artwork in virtual reality that they can then export and print on our 3D printer! Finally in Our Robots & Roblox camp we teach kids about robotics and coding using the awesome mBot coding robot. Kids will assemble their own robot kit and we’ll code them using Scratch to create some entry level artificial intelligence and we’ll have some robot competitions too! This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ages 6-9 | Ages 6-9

**CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Your kid loves Pokemon; LEGO; and Minecraft? Now they can do ALL of them in four epic days. Day one they’re coding their own Pokemon battle game with custom characters and attacks. Day two they’re building and programming LEGO robots to race and compete. Day three they’re designing Minecraft worlds and 3D printing their creations. Day four they’re turning hand-drawn characters into AI-powered animations. Every day is a new adventure and every project is theirs to keep. No experience needed. This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ages 6-9 | Ages 6-9

**CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Our ‘Python & A.I. Bootcamp’ is designed for kids who are new to Python and Artificial Intelligence or A.I. We spend the camp teaching kids the fundamentals of the Python programming language and we introduce them to Google Teachable Machine which teaches them how to train and build their own A.I. models; it’s really incredible! Python is one of the hottest computer programming languages in the world and it's used in everyday applications. We love Python because it’s also one of the easiest languages for kids to learn because of its simplicity. Artificial Intelligence or A.I. is everywhere these days and it’s producing some of the most insane technology we’ve seen in a generation; and we can't wait to introduce it to this generation of young coders! This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Ages 8+ | Ages 8+

**CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING** Teens from all four of our Atlanta schools team up online for our first AI Shark Tank League camp! On day one campers find a real problem that a real person has; like a parent’s small business; a teacher or a sports team; and dream up a product or service to fix it. Then they build it with code and AI; test it on real users and fix what breaks; just like a real startup. On the last day every camper pitches live to a panel of Sharks (our coaches and their fellow campers); who ask the tough questions and decide who wins. No coding experience needed; we teach every step live online. Windows or Mac laptop with a webcam required. This one runs Monday through Friday and we are closed on Thanksgiving Day. You know how the toys in Toy Story come alive the second everyone leaves the room? This week your kid’s toys do the same thing; and your child is the director! Campers bring 2 or 3 favorite toys and a few family photos (totally optional); and the toys; your child and your family all become the animated cast. Anyone can type a sentence into AI. We teach what real filmmakers know: how to build a story; draw a storyboard; choose the right camera shot; direct the AI until the scene is right; then edit it all together with music; their own voices and sound effects they record themselves. Kids also crew on each other’s movies as voice actors and sound artists; just like a real studio. On the last day we roll out the red carpet; and every director takes the stage to show their movie and explain how they made it. Windows or Mac laptop required; no tablets. This one runs Monday through Thursday and wraps on Christmas Eve. Ages 7-12 | Ages 7-12

We’ll be using a cool drag n’ drop language called Scratch to create some awesome new and classic games! Aimed at our newbie and novice coders with little or no experience creating games in Scratch so we can go at their pace! During lunch breaks; kids will hang out and play some group Roblox games together! Coding and Roblox in the same week. Sounds like a great few days of camp! In our LEGO Masters Camp we use popular LEGO coding kits such as the Mindstorms and Spike Essentials to teach kids to build some awesome creations and to program them with Scratch to perform cool tricks and even some Artificial Intelligence or A.I.! LEGOs are a great way to teach kids logic and the fundamentals of mechanical engineering in addition to coding; and they’re also GREAT for kids who love to express themselves creatively. We provide all of the LEGO kits for camp so the kids just need to bring in a laptop and they’re good to go! This one runs Monday through Thursday and wraps on Christmas Eve. Ages 6-9 | Ages 6-9

What if your kid built their own Super Smash Bros... and every fighter was someone in your family? In Super Smash Family; campers turn family photos into game characters with AI; then write the real code that makes the game work: how each fighter runs and jumps; how hard they hit; how far they fly; and what happens when little brother shows up as the villain. They’ll give Mom; Dad and the dog their own special moves; record their own sound effects; and program the brain of a computer-controlled final boss (hi; Dad). Anyone can ask AI to make a game. We teach kids to understand every line; test it; fix it and explain it. And yes; we play the real Super Smash Bros. at breaks! The last day is the Family Smash Tournament: parents come in and battle in the game their kid coded; and every camper takes it home. Windows or Mac laptop required; no tablets. This one runs Monday through Thursday and wraps on New Year’s Eve. Ages 8+ | Ages 8+
